Gabby Jupp

Gabby Jupp has torn her other ACL and is out of the English Championships, her coach Steven Price has confirmed on twitter. After a promising senior debut where she had a strong showing at American Cup in 2013 followed by winning the AA at British Championships, she tore her ACL at Euros on beam. It has been a long, slow recovery with setbacks and now to tear the other one is just devastating. Other gymnasts with multiple tears such as Yvette Moshage and Mariya Livchikova have been forced into retirement, although the latter's situation was hindered by abysmal options relating to health care and finances. Here's hoping that Gabby can come back from this and display her gorgeous, clean work as a specialist, on bars and hopefully beam.

Ugh, gutted for her. She really has a lot to offer British gymnastics.

  1. I loved the rhythm in her beam routine and her form on her skills on bars, very crisp. On beam she barely had to set up a skill, she had her routine nailed cold.

I wish her a speedy recovery. Please let us know if you hear any updates about her plans.

  2. :(. So now both ACL are damaged? We've already seen how much one ACL damage can do. Well I guess she can try to concentrate on bars like musty.... poor thing ;(

    1. Yes, and her recovery from the first one was very slow.

  3. Oh no, this makes me so sad. She really caught my eye at the 2013 American Cup, and was so sad for her when she tore her ACL during quals at that year's Euro's. Then it was so early in the quad, a full 3 years until Rio there was no reason not to have every hope for her to recover. I echo others and hope she can make it back for beam/bars because she deserves to have her lovely talents showcased. We will all keep hoping for you Gabby!

  4. So sad. I really wish her the best in whatever she decides to do, but I do hope she is able to make a second comeback. Poor thing.

  5. This may sound dumb but how is it legal for gymnastike.com to take footage of the U.S team then sell the videos for money? And its not even a little amount of money we are being robbed!

    1. They bought the rights to broadcast it - the same way NBC, BBC, CCTV etc. buys the rights to broadcast footage taken at Worlds/Olympics.

I think the Italian Federation YouTube channel will post video as well, so not all is lost.

  6. I don't think there's a policy in place at jesolo that says fans can't take video, unless there is a policy that says you can only take video for personal use and not for commercial use without permission. If so, then that would be illegal.

Personally, I think USA gymnastics should take video of all the competitions that US girls attend and podium trainings.
